Post Marathon Day 1: So Sunday after my race was a chill day, just relaxing at the house. I pretty much sat on my butt all day. I deserve that after a PR marathon I think! I got a chance to watch this dvd I rented from the library, "Rising from ashes". It was so inspiring! Really good movie!
Sunday night we had planned on going to help a friend move from her apartment. Wow was that a good idea...the day after running a marathon. And even better when they live up a flight of stairs!!! I did my best, but I wasn't much help there. I let my husband do the extra work for me ;)
Post Marathon Day 2: Monday night I attended the "Nashville Trail Film Festival" along with my friend Annapurna. Girls Night Out! It was nice to get dressed up and get to hang out with my girl and a bunch of trail fanatics like myself!
It defiantly reunited my love for the trails. I haven't been out to the trails since this summer and I need to get back out there. I have been considering training for another 50k on trails this year. I just haven't decided if I want to do one in the spring or fall.
Post Marathon Day 3: Tuesday morning I hit the pool. I was ready to get my muscles moving in a non-impact way since Saturday's marathon. It defiantly helped shake out the soreness. I got 1000m in using the kick-bored, mainly focusing on the breathing.
Post Marathon Day 4: Wednesday, 4 days post marathon I was feeling ready to run again. I went out Wednesday night to NRC to run. 4 miles on the "Hill Ya" route. I was a little leary of the hills since all the hills from Saturday but thankfully my legs were feeling great! It was a chilly run that night but we had a great turnout anyway!
Post Marathon Day 5: We woke up Thursday morning to this....
I grew up in IL so....
I visited my daughters classroom for morning meeting.
And then I met my friend Shyla at the gym for some elliptical and weights.
My treat after the gym, yeah I shouldn't have but I did.
Thursday night I met up with the South Side runners for another cold run with some great friends!
Post Marathon Day 6 : Day Off. Spent the morning voleenteering at my kids school for the Turkey Trot Run, well it turned out to be a walk because of having to be held indoors due to the the cold temp. But anyways we had fun! We did a little "Just Dance" on the Wii while waiting for the next teams so that was my exersise for the day Lol.
Post Marathon Day 7: So Saturday morning I was ready for an easy long run, problem was I didn't have a sitter and my husband was working Saturday and Sunday. So, not what I love to do but I didn't want to do a late evening run in the dark/cold by myself so I resorted to my backup buddie(ok evil buddie)...the treadmill.
The best part was I was dreading the treadmill all morning but when I went out to my garage to run and turned the tv on guess what was playing???
THE IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPINSHIPS!!!!
Held in Kona, Hawaii.
Swim 2.4 miles
Bike 112 miles
Run 26.2 miles
All in one event. And these are the best of the best from around the world all competing for the championship title.
My legs felt great!!! 7 days post marathon last month after Chicago I was still dealing with a lot of stiffness still on my first long run out. This time I didn't have that. One sweaty run!
Dinner was crockpot roast. I love my crockpot.
So next race, December 6th, The St. Jude Memphis Marathon. As soon as I start logging regular miles it will be taper time again!
I will leave you with this because this is the sweetest thing ever!
